Reading tarot cards is one of the better-known methods of mediumship, dating back to ancient Egyptian times.

There are many different types of tarot cards and different spreads. I use the Mythic Tarot, although the choice of cards used is personal to each tarot reader. When reading the tarot, I ask spirit to channel through me, so that the right spread is selected for the person who has come to seek guidance from the tarot.

Tarot cards do each have a basic meaning, and I do use these when giving a reading. However, in the majority of my readings, the tarot cards are a tool to help me channel information from spirit. By making myself a clear channel, I can ensure that the information given to me is meant for the person in front of me and is not diluted or distorted by any human emotion or ego. Many people are under the impression that tarot readings 'predict' the future in its certainty and entirety and are therefore concerned about having a reading in case something bad is shown in the cards. Through channelling spirit to assist me with the reading, it means that my client is never told anything that they would not be able to deal with, and the information they are given from spirit and the tarot is, as always, meant for them at this time and is for their highest good.

Tarot readings, when done professionally, can be used as a tool for guidance and support. However, as with anything, it is important to not rely too heavily on this one tool to make our choices for us, and to remember that we each have CHOICE and FREE WILL. As our present is always changing, so is the information given in the cards, because the future is not cast in stone. Tarot can be used to answer questions and help with choices but it is often the unasked question that is answered, as this is also what is for our highest good.
